Choppy sound in iTunes?

I found this post a while back:

The choppy sound is sometimes a DirectSound problem. Go into Control Panela to the Quicktime settings -->go to the "Sound Out" panel and make sure that DirectSound IS NOT SELECTED. If it is, change it to anything else you have available. Should fix it.
